CANDY CANE SNOWFLAKES
This tut was written by Mama Berd (karen) on Nov. 14, 2008. Any similarities to any other tutorial is merely coincidental
This tut is a guide. Please feel free to use different papers, embellishments, tubes, fonts etc! You are only as limited as your imagination
You will need:
Paint Shop Pro I wrote this in PSP 9 but I'm sure it will work with other versions
Tube of your choice. I am using the beautiful work of Carrie Travis. Please don't use her work unless you have a license to do so. You can find obtain a license HERE
MoMo's Christmas Dreams Scrap Kit you can purchase it HERE Thank you, MoMo for your gorgeous scrap!
Ali's Template number 98 which you can get HERE Thank you Ali for the awesome template
Font of Choice I am using Candy Cane which can be found HERE
Ok Lets begin!
Open up your Template, make a copy and delete the original. Delete raster 1 (Ali's info layer). Go to Image Canvas size and resize 700 x 650, to give you more room. We will resize later. Add a new layer; send to the bottom and flood fill with white so you can see what you are doing.
On layer Shape 1 go to select all, float, defloat then smooth, and put 10 in both boxes. I think doing it this way gives your edges a smoother look, but if you have better way, by all means do it! We will use the smooth step on all the paper steps throughout this tut. Paste paper of choice (I used paper 1) then selections invert, delete, selections none. Add drop shadow of 2, 2, 50, and 5 and delete the original layer.
Keep adding the papers to your template shapes, but NOT to the snowflake layers. We will get to those later. I used papers 5 and 4 for the rectangles then paper 12 for the frame. Make sure you add your drop shadow to all layers and delete your original layers.
Ok...Now on to the snowflakes! On the black snowflake layer go to select all float defloat, add a new raster layer and flood fill with fcdeeO Selections invert then delete. Add the same drop shadow and delete your original layer. Rename this layer Light Pink snowflake and duplicate this layer twice for a total of 3 layers. Rename these layers LT Pink snowflake 1, 2, and 3. On the first layer go to noise make sure uniform is ticked, and amount 25. Next layer amount 50, and on the 3rd layer amount 75
Go to your let gray snowflake layer selections select all float, defloat, add a new raster layer and flood fill with ef6f7c. Selections invert delete then selections none. Delete your original snowflake layer, and add your drop shadow. Rename this layer Dk Pink snowflake and duplicate twice for a total of 3 layers. Rename these dr pink 1, 2, and 3. Repeat your noise layers again. This time I did the top layer 75, Middle layer 25 and bottom layer 50. I'm just crazy like that!
At this time add your tube, and use the same drop shadow, and if you want to use any other embellishments from the kit, that's up to you! Make the tag to please YOU! LOL
Add your copyrights, and your text. I used Candy Cane with the foreground fcdee0 and the background ef6f7c. I applied this inner bevel Bevel # 2, Width 7, Smoothness 22, Depth 5, Ambiance 15, Shininess 11, color white, Angle 315, Intensity 30 Elevation 50. Add your drop shadow of 2, 2, 50 and 5
Close off your light pink snowflake and dark pink snowflake layers 2 and 3 then merge visible. Image resize by 70 then go to adjust sharpen, then copy and paste this into animation shop.
Back in PSP, hit control Z twice to undo your resize and sharpen, then close off snowflake layers (Both Lt and Drk Pink layers) 1 and open 2. Again, merge visible, then image resize by 50 then adjust sharpen Copy and when you go to animation shop paste after current layer.
Back in PSP remember to hit your control Z twice, close off both snowflake 2 layers and open up layers 3. Merge visible, image resize by 70, then adjust sharpen. Copy and in animation shop paste after current layer. In animation shop click on view animation to make sure its working. Then save your tag! Ta Dahh...its done!
